A Curated Art Show. What?, conceptualized by Beda Achermann, celebrates Laufen’s anniversary and documents the company’s reference points, values, and milestones with seventeen sculptures ranging from abstract to figurative, handmade to digitally fabricated, composed of such materials as vitreous china, SaphirKeramik, coated sand, and more by artists, designers, and architects including Konstantin Grcic, Toan Nguyen, Patricia Urquiola, Bastien Aubry and Dimitri Broquard.

On the occasion of the 3daysofdesign, Copenhagens's leading annual design event for design enthusiasts from around the globe, Laufen Bathrooms presented “A Curated Art Show. What?”. This is the title of a traveling exhibition, who was created to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Laufen. It is shown at the Swiss Embassy, being part of an exhibition designed by Alfredo Häberli, putting together various companies from Switzerland for this single moment.

Complementing the exhibition "Incidental Space" by Christian Kerez at the Pavilion of Switzerland at the 15th International Architecture Exhibition, the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia organises the collateral event «Salon Suisse», a programme of talks and events offering a platform for exchange on contemporary architecture and thought in a relaxed atmosphere. Laufen Bathrooms AG is delighted to be the partner of the Salon Suisse in the fifth year.

Laufen celebrates shared creativity: The stand designed by atelier oï and Beda Achermann, bespoke projects based on collaboration with prestigious architects, collections made with the innovative material Saphirkeramik with design by Konstantin Grcic and Toan Nguyen, and the Kartell by Laufen collection created by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, an integrated project where the original, innovative approach of Kartell meets the quality and research of Laufen.

The story goes on: No one thought that a small addition of corundum to the traditional formula of ceramics could generate an enormous revolution in the world of the bathroom: no one, that is, except the farsighted experts at Laufen. In 2013 they launched the innovative material SaphirKeramik, the world’s thinnest ceramic, after half a decade of research, testing and experimentation under the guidance of Dr.Werner Fischer. Since then this has been the company’s leading product, generating a truly new trend in the entire bath sector.

Architecture, interior and industrial design materials unite in a new interpretation of the bathing environment at the Kartell by Laufen monobrand store in the heart of Brera Design District in Milan. A wild but sophisticated setting, dominated by a nature that envelops and overwhelms: this is one of the new moods developed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba for Kartell by Laufen, which during the Milan Design Week S2016 presents a backdrop made of floral games and urban jungle patterns.

iF GOLD AWARD, 26 FEBRUARY 2016/MUNICH FOR VAL by KONSTANTIN GRCIC

Val SaphirKeramik collection wins the iF Gold Award 2016. An innovative material and an expressive design characterise the Val bathroom collection from Laufen, the Swiss bathroom specialist. Val was created by the Munich star designer Konstantin Grcic, and explores the potential of the SaphirKeramik material by means of fine geometric lines, narrowly-defined radii and tactile surfaces. For this work, the functional yet equally attractive collection has been honoured with the Gold Award, the highest level of the iF Design Awards.

Celebrities sign the Kartell by Laufen limited edition washbasin for charity

With Antonio Banderas as the host, many celebrities attended the prestigious 2015 Starlite Gala in Marbella Spain on 9th August, a charitable event to raise funds for the Starlite Foundation. Antonio Banderas was amongst the celebrities who signed the limited edition silver Kartell by Laufen washbasin donated by Laufen and subsequently auctioned during the Gala event with proceeds being donated to the Starlite Foundation.
