HANDMADE INDUSTRY is the title of the exhibition by atelier oï, Switzerland at the Museu da Casa Brasiliera in São Paulo, presented in South America for the first time. Laufen Symposium “Architecture during art”: Architects and art historians discuss the hidden qualities of architecture. During ART Basel, the Swiss bathroom specialist Laufen held a concurrent symposium at its corporate headquarters in Laufen/Switzerland on 14 June. On the occasion of DESIGN MIAMI, 6 - 10 December 2017, the uniqueness of the LAUFEN brand has been presented through the curated LAUFEN art show at the Ironside cultural centre situated in Miami's Upper Eastside neighbourhood.
From 21 to 22 November, Swiss bathroom specialist Laufen was exhibiting on stand G21 at Europe’s leading hotel design event, Sleep, at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London. With over 125 years of design heritage, Laufen have proved themselves to be a valued contributor to a number of outstanding hospitality projects around the world. At this year’s Sleep Event, the brand was showcasing Laufen’s capabilities and demonstrating their commitment to provide a professional and consultative approach that focuses on adding real value.
“Ode to Kaolin” — the film portrait of Swiss bathroom specialist Laufen was honoured twice, winning two silver awards. The motion picture shines the spotlight on Laufen’s ceramics expertise, its diverse product range and its affinity to design and impressed the Edi.17 and the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards juries.
For developing SaphirKeramik, Swiss bathroom specialist Laufen is being honoured with Design Prize Switzerland 2017/18. SaphirKeramik is an innovative ceramic material, which has all the hygienic advantages of traditional bathroom ceramics, but is thinner, more defined, and extremely robust.
Kartell by Laufen participated also this year at the Brera Design Days. On 12th October at 6PM we were pleased to invite you to Kartell by Laufen flagship store in Via Pontaccio 10 in Milan for a conversation with the title "Producing culture has no scale", during which Marco Sammicheli, curator, journalist and editor of the magazine Abitare and Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, the designers of the whole collection, will explore the theme "Slowness and Craftsmanship".
This Laufen exhibition was part of The Vienna Design Week, Austria`s largest design festival. The festival, curated by Lilli Hollein, entered its 11th round this year. Opening up creative processes and giving scope for experimentation on site were core elements of the festival concept.

With the creation of a joint business unit for Germany, Austria, and the Benelux countries the Swiss bathroom specialist Laufen is reacting to the current market environment. With this step the company intends to further extend its already strong position in the demanding Central European market. A Curated Art Show. What?, conceptualized by Beda Achermann, celebrates Laufen’s anniversary and documents the company’s reference points, values, and milestones with seventeen sculptures ranging from abstract to figurative, handmade to digitally fabricated, composed of such materials as vitreous china, SaphirKeramik, coated sand, and more by artists, designers, and architects including Konstantin Grcic, Toan Nguyen, Patricia Urquiola, Bastien Aubry and Dimitri Broquard.
The Salone Internazione del Mobile in Milan, during Design Week: Kartell by Laufen showed its new creations in the heart of the Brera Design District, at the flagship store on Via Pontaccio. Designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, the new displays have been completely updated. All the walls are painted dark grey, with the exception of two volumes clad in marble that add character to the central part of the showroom: a contrast that brings out the bright white of the ceramics, especially SaphirKeramik.

Laufen previewed CLEANET RIVA in the UK for the first time at Sleep ahead of the official launch in 2017. Patricia Urquiola designs the interiors of the new Laufen showroom in Madrid. The opening took place in November 2016. Laufen has always chosen to work with outstanding names in design, for the creation of products and their communication as well as for their exhibition settings: for the new showroom in Madrid the company has turned to Patricia Urquiola, the most highly acclaimed, prize-winning and versatile designer of the moment. Inside the box: The Kartell by Laufen monobrand store, during Design Week 2016, updates its windows with a special installation based on atmospheres from the Far East, while the brand’s growth continues with 1000 new spaces in over 60 countries. One year after its opening, and to celebrate Design Week, the Kartell by Laufen showroom on Via Pontaccio unveils an installation aimed at the world of architecture and interior design, while communicating several important phases of the brand’s growth on international markets.
The story goes on: No one thought that a small addition of corundum to the traditional formula of ceramics could generate an enormous revolution in the world of the bathroom: no one, that is, except the farsighted experts at Laufen. Val SaphirKeramik collection wins the iF Gold Award 2016. An innovative material and an expressive design characterise the Val bathroom collection from Laufen, the Swiss bathroom specialist. Val was created by the Munich star designer Konstantin Grcic, and explores the potential of the SaphirKeramik material by means of fine geometric lines, narrowly-defined radii and tactile surfaces. Acclaimed by critics and public, Designjunction is one of the most important cultural and commercial events in the universe of contemporary design. Set this year within The College and the Victoria House, in the heart of London, it has now reached its fifth edition and will attract visitors from all over the world, professionals in the sector and enthusiasts. Laufen Bathrooms is partner of the «Salon Suisse», an official Collateral Event of the Biennale, running concomitantly to the exhibition at the Swiss Pavilion at the 56th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia from May 9 to November 22. The «Salon Suisse» is initiated and organized by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia.
Just over two years since its launch, having toured the project around the world and having opened more than 500 points of sale in more than 40 countries, Kartell by Laufen is launching its first monobrand store in the heart of Milan's Brera district, at Via Pontaccio 10.
