Ode to Kaolin

Laufen’s image film wins the silver Edi.17 award and the Cannes Corporate Awards 2017 in silver

“Ode to Kaolin” — the film portrait of Swiss bathroom specialist Laufen was honoured twice, winning two silver awards. The motion picture shines the spotlight on Laufen’s ceramics expertise, its diverse product range and its affinity to design and impressed the Edi.17 and the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards juries.

With its cinematic portrait “Ode to Kaolin”, Laufen wins the silver Edi.17 in the Corporate – Brand Image category. Edi. is the Swiss quality award for commissioned productions of advertising, industrial and corporate films.

“Mysterious, vibrant, beautiful and exciting until the very end.
This film opens up a new perspective onto an everyday product and portrays its production just as aesthetically as the final product itself,” commented the jury of leading experts from Swiss TV, commissioned and advertising film producers. The Edi.17 in silver was awarded to the film “Ode to Kaolin” in a formal ceremony at the Schiffbau Theatre in Zurich.

Six jury teams awarded the Edi.17 to 20 of the over 300 film productions submitted. The contest is sponsored by the Federal Department of Home Affairs and was held for the eighteenth time in 2017.

Cannes Corporate Awards 2017
Laufen also received the internationally highly regarded Silver Dolphin of the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards. The 8th edition of the award ceremony was held on 28 September at the Palm Beach Hotel in Cannes, the legendary French film capital.

“In the beginning was the hand. The power of creation lies in the hand that creates. Handicraft is the work created with the strength of ones own hands which translates into a handmade product because the hand follows a signal that comes from above, directly from the head that conceived it, though now linked to what the finger signals back to the head.” This is how author Eckhart Nickel describes the cinematic presentation which was produced in Laufen’s plants in Central Europe, starring only Laufen employees.

Every year, the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards present prizes to the world’s best advertising films, online media and documentaries in Cannes, one of the world’s most important film centres. After the two Award Days, the winners of the 8th edition of the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards were selected from 600 submissions.
