At this year’s ISH in Frankfurt am Main Laufen is present its latest design creations and functional solutions for the bathroom. SaphirKeramik once again played a starring role, because the design potential of this slim yet robust material has not yet reached its limits by far. Laufen has once again cooperated with hot designers, developing new products in SaphirKeramik, as well as faucets and furniture, providing bathroom planners and architects with fresh freedom in the furnishing of high-quality bathrooms.
The objective of Laufen is to use its innovations to convince the expert international audience at the world’s leading bathroom trade fair. To achieve this the company has been working hard over the past two years, finishing numerous new developments has been presented at the ISH 2017 for the first time. They are intended to provide retailers, wholesalers, architects and bathroom planners with a broad portfolio, in order to be able to satisfy the growing demand for high-quality, emotional and intelligent bathroom solutions.
The foundation for the continued success of Laufen is the high quality with which the company’s products are developed and manufactured in the traditional and yet extremely modern production facilities in Switzerland, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic.
In addition there is a marked understanding of design management and design leadership, which are firmly anchored in Laufen’s company culture, leading to a design process which intelligently commits people, materials and production processes towards one objective – to develop excellent products for the bathroom, with love and passion.
What goes without saying at Laufen is the permanent commitment to new and innovative solutions, which in Laufen’s history has always led to ground-breaking inventions. Thus for example the industrially produced wall-mounted toilet originated at Laufen, together with the highly efficient pressure casting process for bathroom ceramics, the floor-standing washbasin, and the recently introduced SaphirKeramik which has set a new trend in bathroom design.
The company sees itself as being well-equipped for the future and on the way to becoming a leading international company, bringing design excellence into the whole bathroom by combining high-end design and craft skills in its products. The future orientation of the bathroom specialist also includes realising tailored design solutions with different materials in the bathroom, in order to provide architects and bathroom planners with more freedom for individual designs.
Sonar by Patricia Urquiola
In cooperation with the best designers of our time, various influences, ideas, concepts and multicultural approaches unite with the Laufen company philosophy to create completely new bathroom worlds. Moreover, the special properties of SaphirKeramik open up almost limitless possibilities for developing novel design solutions in the limited spaces of the bathroom – a further incentive for creative people to work with Laufen. Having designed the Laufen showroom in Madrid, Patricia Urquiola is now taking the extraordinary material to a third level with great sensitivity. With Sonar the internationally acclaimed and eclectic designer is revealing the third generation of the SaphirKeramik project which is currently in development: wall-hung washbasins, washbasin bowls and bathtubs – Patricia Urquiola is creating a new world using Laufen SaphirKeramik.
Kartell by Laufen
The Kartell by Laufen range developed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba is a project that unites the best properties of two brand manufacturers. Kartell contributes creativity and expertise in plastic objects, and Laufen high quality and precision in ceramics. Since the market launch in 2013 the collection has concentrated on being extremely versatile and flexible, so that the bathroom can change like a chameleon, satisfying many different tastes at the same time.
Kartell by Laufen is presented an extended collection at ISH 2017. The new elegant washbasin vanity unit combinations with slim ceramic, washbasins in different sizes with standard outlet, several decors for the floorstanding washbasin, new furniture elements, a rimless floorstanding WC-combination and a free-standing bathtub, together with special surfaces and new colours for the plastic objects, all make the complete bathroom project even more flexible in use, interpreting the bathroom in an independent and unique manner.
Val by Konstantin Grcic
The aesthetic lightness of SaphirKeramik, combined with a design suitable for everyday use produced by a master of the craft makes Laufen’s Val bathroom collection, which was first presented in 2015, unique and successful all over the world. The Munich star designer Konstantin Grcic has now designed new pieces for the collection, masterfully presenting the characteristic interaction between forms and lines in the Val collection. In this way Val is growing to become a complete bathroom, and offers new possibilities for bathroom design.
Along with new washbasins the additions to the collection also include rimless toilets, a bidet, a circular, free-standing bathtub, and a complete faucet series. In addition, Laufen has gained a practical partner in the form of Base bathroom furniture.
In developing the new bathroom furniture Base, Laufen paid special attention to the furniture reflecting current trends, offering good quality and many functions – with excellent value for money. The new bathroom furniture appears timelessly simple and graceful in the best Swiss design tradition of being simply good and simply beautiful. The drawers and doors are framed by slim edges which are available in two versions: round or angular, depending on the bathroom collection to be used. Along with vanity units, the extremely functional Base range includes prefabricated washbasin solutions, medium and high cabinets, together with mirror cabinets.
With Cleanet Riva, Laufen is presented a shower toilet in Frankfurt that uses its holistic concept in terms of hygiene, design and user-friendliness to satisfy end customers’ quality demands, at the same time fulfilling trade and installation requirements. Cleanet Riva convinces with an integrated high-quality design in ceramic material, which can hardly be distinguished from a design toilet without shower function, and technically demanding and user-friendly intuitive solutions. In the process Laufen has masterfully succeeded in integrating the technology completely into the closed ceramic body, creating a timeless aesthetic which is suitable for high-quality bathroom productions, harmonising perfectly with all of the company's design solutions. The shower toilet has won the Red Dot Award 2016, the iF Design Award 2017 and the Design Plus powered by ISH 2017 for its holistic design approach, which defines freshness and cleanliness comprehensively.
Laufen Pro/Laufen Pro S
Laufen Pro is a genuine success story in the bathroom. The extremely broad-range complete bathroom series has a timeless design language (design: Peter Wirz), which has proved popular both with building planners and in private households. The range now includes several new rimless toilets, including a barrier-free toilet, a new barrier-free washbasin and a basic faucet set.
Another practical item for installers, wholesalers and retailers is the pre-packed Laufen Pro Packs in attractive packaging containing all the essential components for fast and easy washbasin and toilet installation.
Laufen Pro S is the further development of Laufen Pro. The broad range stands for modern design, using clever functions to bring real added value and refinement to the bathroom. Thanks to its slim silhouette and the clearly defined radii, the washbasins in the series appear light and elegant, while the deep basin provides plenty of functionality (design: Peter Wirz). New to the range are 120 cm-wide washbasins, available as a single or double washbasin. Beside the existing Laufen Pro S Washbasin Packs a new slim Washbasin Pack is also available – containing all required elements for installation in attractive packaging.
Hardly any other product has had such a successful career in the bathroom and toilet field in the past years as the rimless ceramic toilet. For this reason Laufen has now reworked parts of its toilet range in order to be able to offer rimless toilet solutions in as many of its bathroom collections as possible – for example for Il Bagno Alessi One, Kartell by Laufen, Val, Laufen Pro and Palace. In this way the company is reacting to the success of rimless toilets in private households and commercial buildings, where more hygiene, more ease of cleaning and more design are very much appreciated. Designing without a rim makes the toilets extremely suitable for everyday use, because bacteria and germs have nowhere to take hold, and are simply flushed away.
Boutique is a high-quality furniture system, made to perfection using valuable quality materials. This versatile system is aimed at demanding customers and can be combined with all Laufen ceramics. It includes vanity unit furniture, open furniture modules, and medium and tall cabinets in wood, which are manufactured with the greatest of care and a lot of attention to detail.
One innovation in the Boutique bathroom furniture range is 80 and 120 mm-thick washbasin counters, which can be supplied made to measure and with appropriate washbasin cut-outs. In addition, the 900 and 1200 mm-wide vanity units in the collection can now be fitted with a base pedestal, transforming them into floor-standing furniture modules or sideboards. The furniture elements can also be fitted with additional L-shaped trays inside, providing added storage surface and electrical socket option.
The Space furniture series convinces with a functional and compact design which adjusts to any ambience. The collection comes with numerous elements such as tall cabinets with mirror doors, drawer elements, washbasin counters, vanity units and open furniture modules. The structure of the furniture items is light and modern: It is based on an aluminium frame, which is clad in laminated wood in white matt, light walnut or dark elm, and ensures a high degree of stability. New to the range are 100 mm-thick washbasin counters, made to measure with different washbasin cut-outs for countertop washbasins or vanity unit washbasins.
Frame 25 is a flexible and well-thought-through range of mirrors and mirror cabinets. Thanks to its high-quality, timeless elegance, crystal clear view, the non-dazzle lighting and the good space provision, Frame 25 has certainly found plenty of friends around the washbasin. In addition, Laufen is now extending the comprehensive range with chic glass trays. They can be cut to size like the mirrors, providing additional storage surfaces, either fitted directly to the mirror, or placed anywhere in the room.
