Markthal Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Examples of urban living don’t come much greater than Markthal Rotterdam, an iconic new marketplace with apartments above. The first of its kind in Europe, Markthal Rotterdam integrates living and shopping in a unique way; this hybrid between market hall and housing is designed in a distinctive horseshoe shaped arch, consisting of housing from the third to the eleventh floor.
Residences

The existing housing typology is diverse and ranges from open loft layouts over duplex apartments to two-storey penthouses. All 228 accomodations have terraces with spectacular views over Rotterdam, including the river Meuse or the “Laurenskwartier”. Half of the apartments have triple glazed windows granting a unique view towards the interior of the market hall.

102 apartments were planned as rental properties within a comprehensive interior concept. The bathrooms of these apartments were supposed to satisfy the needs of contemporary living in the Netherlands. Thus, with its clean and timeless design, Laufen Pro is the ideal choice – combining form with function to create bathroom spaces that are stylish and practical.
