Hee Welling / Hee Welling Design

Hee Welling’s creative work is strongly rooted in his home country, Denmark. Like hardly anyone else he knows how to express traditional Danish understanding of design in his product and furniture designs. His fine feeling for form and function provides the basis for his designs, which are shown in exhibitions around the world and at trade fairs in Cologne, London, New York, Milan, Singapore, Stockholm and Tokyo.

Born in 1974 in Copenhagen, the city which remains the focal point in his life. Directly after completing his design studies at the Danish Design School in 2003 Welling founded the Hee Welling Design Studio, taking up a teaching position at the Danish Design School one year later.

Welling’s work, such as the Hee Chair or the About a Chair, produced in collaboration with the HAY furniture label, gained both widespread respect and recognition on an international level. It is seating furniture which satisfies modern and ecological design standards, but can be easily integrated into very different living environments. An all-round talent for products made mainly of recyclable materials.

Welling reinterprets the Scandinavian bathroom for the Swiss bathroom specialist Laufen: Kompas was conceived exclusively for customers from the Nordic countries, and is dedicated to their highly-developed sense of design and use. Welling designed wash basins, toilets and matching furniture for Kompas, which, thanks to the excellent value for money, completely convince customers in Scandinavia.

Hee Welling: “In Scandinavian countries we appreciate high quality and maintain a particular understanding of design. The Kompas bathroom collection offers both: Swiss quality, which has been adjusted to Nordic viewing and usage customs. Kompas represents clear lines, reduced material use and functional design in the best Scandinavian tradition.
