Internationally renowned designer Marcel Wanders takes us on a journey to a bygone age with his new faucet collection: The New Classic. He takes us back to poetry and romance, without losing sight of modern needs and preferences. With ‘The New Classic’, Wanders masterfully finds the perfect balance between an innovative design and an archetype for a cosmopolitan and diverse lifestyle. The streamlined, conical silhouette of the faucet bodies is reminiscent of monumental porticos from the Roman Empire. Its geometrical forms flow into graceful curves, merging to create a classical look. The faucets’ spouts and levers are particularly slender, in line with modern tastes.
Sophisticated technology
The New Classic combines the designer’s flair and creativity with Laufen’s wealth of expertise. Implementing the extremely fine, precise dividing lines that form a key part of the faucet design requires high-precision manufacturing methods. The washbasin and bidet mixers owe their slim faucet bodies to the high-grade brass cartridge, with a diameter of just 25 mm. For ‘The New Classic’ wall faucet with two knobs, the Swiss company devised a particularly attractive installation solution. The knobs are cast in one piece and fitted directly to the wall, with a deep compensation system concealed behind the wall. That makes wall rosettes that protrude to different heights from the wall a thing of the past. ‘The New Classic’ is also eco-friendly. The Ecototal cartridge in the shower and bath mixers reduces water and energy consumption with a temperature and volume restrictor. The washbasin and bidet mixers are also equipped with environmentally friendly technology and meet the requirements of the highest energy saving class of the Unified Water Label.
The range at a glance
The designer created the collection in style worlds entitled Bohemian, Cosmopolitan and New Royal. As a result, ‘The New Classic’ can be used to create enchanting bathrooms for any interior design style. For washbasins, two washbasin mixers with spouts of different lengths are available, as well as a high pedestal mixer for washbasin bowls; one model each for washbasin- or wall-mounting with two knobs, and a 2-point wall mixer are available. ‘The New Classic’ also includes shower and bath mixers for on-wall and in-wall mounting, as well as an elegant bath inlet. A bidet mixer, which owes its look to a particularly short ball joint, completes the range.
