Public Hotel, New York, USA

Mixing the legendary style of Ian Schrager with Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, defines a project which is already a legend on its own. Public Hotel, located at 215 Chrystie Street in the Bowery district, NY, is, so Schrager claims, a ‘disruption’ to the city's current lifestyle brands. Public’s fundamental ethos is accessibility, with a focus on style, sharp service and fun facilities.

With two restaurants, three bars, a retail concept, events spaces, multiple communal workspaces and lushly landscaped gardens the building becomes lika a city within the city – also considering that luxury residences occupy the seven floors above the hotel.

The 367 smart and efficient guest rooms, like cabins on a yacht, offer comfort in perfect harmony with functionality. They are thoughtfully designed with distinct zones for sleeping, relaxing, working and entertaining. For the bathrooms Laufen supplied 370 bespoke washbasins and 6 free-standing public washbasins, all designed by the Swiss architects, as well as 577 Palomba Collection WCs.

Public is an iconic addition to the New York hospitality scene, with design and engineering excellence demanded in every detail.
