Veronika Manukjan: FLOW

In her work, the artist explores original structures, light, and a monochromatic color palette. She finds inspiration in the principles that shape nature—in the flow of water, the growth of root systems, branching, erosion, and the organic structures hidden beneath the surface. She transforms these processes into relief compositions that interweave movement, energy, and transformation.

In an age oversaturated with information and visual stimuli, she consciously reduces the color palette to create space for a deeper perception of light, material, and detail. Her monochromatic works allow the viewer to focus on what is essential and discover the richness hidden in the subtle nuances of the surface.

Light is an integral part of the work. In interaction with the relief surface, it reveals its mutability and highlights details that change depending on the intensity of the light and the viewer’s angle of observation. Each painting thus acquires new visual qualities throughout the day and offers a different way of perceiving it. The work does not become a static object, but rather a dynamic element of the space that reveals new layers of its structure with every change in lighting conditions.

FLOW is an invitation to slow down. To perceive light, structure, and details that often remain hidden beneath the surface. It reminds us that even seemingly static forms contain movement, transformation, and a constant dialogue with the space around us.

 

Veronika Manukjan (*1983)
is a Czech visual artist dedicated to contemporary relief painting. Her characteristic monochromatic paintings treat light as an active component of the work and transform depending on the space and the viewer’s angle of view. Her work has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions and is part of private collections in the Czech Republic and abroad.
