LAUFEN wins Gold IDEA award from The Industrial Designers Society of America

LAUFEN has won a Gold IDEA award in one of the world’s most prestigious design competitions – the Industrial Designers Society of America’s 2015 International Design Excellence Awards for the Living Square Washbasin with SaphirKeramik.

LAUFEN has continued to gain extensive experience and a wealth of knowledge with the innovative ceramic material by integrating numerous bathroom products made of SaphirKeramik into its product ranges, including the Living Square Washbasin. Thanks to a simplified ceramic structure and low material quantity, SaphirKeramik has further advantages in terms of environmental protection and sustainability.

“LAUFEN truly believes that the potential of SaphirKeramik and the products we’ve developed using this innovative material have not yet been fully explored,” states Javier Korneluk, U.S. Managing Director for LAUFEN. “We are honoured to be chosen for such a prestigious award and to be recognised by the Industrial Designers Society of America for our creativity and innovation that we take such pride in as a company.”

More than 1,700 products from around the world are entered for IDEA 2015, and only 28 Golds were awarded as the competition marks its 35th year and IDSA celebrates its 50th anniversary. Silver and Gold winners were revealed on August 22, 2015 at the IDEA Ceremony and Gala at the stunning Benroya Hall in Seattle, Washington.
