Beyond the surface. LAUFEN at HIX 2025

At HIX 2025, LAUFEN reaffirms its position as a leading voice in premium hospitality design, presenting a curated edit of bathroom innovations tailored for the sector.

In tune with the show’s theme of Culture Clash, LAUFEN introduces meaningful products that resonate with the soul of today’s explorers, demonstrating that premium design does not have to cost the earth.

Central to this message is LAUFEN’s commitment to sustainability. The World’s first CO₂ free ceramic production has been established at the brand’s E-Kiln in Gmunden, Austria since 2023.

Produced in the facility, the groundbreaking new washbasin by Yves Behar, VOLTA. Made from LAUFEN’s pioneering Saphirkeramik, VOLTA radically rethinks the form of the washbasin, presenting water in a striking new way.

Behar describes VOLTA as "design for a changing world". His inspiration: the new E-Kiln, the world's first CO2-free firing kiln for sanitary ceramics at the LAUFEN site in Gmunden. His design impressively underlines the performance of the world's first electric tunnel kiln. Bringing sustainability to life through design - this is the idea that drives Yves Behar.

Behar wanted to completely rethink the washbasin for his design: "With a washbasin, the water normally flows directly from the faucet into the waste. In nature, on the other hand, water is in motion, sometimes flowing slowly, sometimes quickly. I thought hard about how I could incorporate these physical, visual and emotional properties of water into my project for LAUFEN.

Alongside VOLTA, visitors will experience a complete bathroom presentation featuring new material finishes and the refinement of glazed steel washbasins. As a natural extension of the LAUFEN collection, the new glazed steel washbasins harmonize beautifully with the luxurious wood veneers and stone surfaces of the ARUN collection. Together, these innovations reaffirm LAUFEN’s position as a leader in design and technical excellence, offering hoteliers and designers the freedom to shape future-focused hospitality spaces.
