Designers

LAUFEN collaborates with some of the world’s leading designers to create collections that shape contemporary bathroom culture. This design driven mindset is paired with excellence in production, where cutting edge technologies meet artisan know-how passed from generation to generation, positioning LAUFEN among the leading names in global design.
Driven by a continuous pursuit of innovation, LAUFEN continues to redefine the possibilities of the bathroom through design, technology and craftsmanship.

Some of the key milestones that define this vision include:

A key component of our commitment to decarbonise operations by 2045, the e-kiln has enabled the CO₂-free manufacturing of certain collections in the Gmunden factory since 2023.

Smooth as glass and strong as steel, VITREON Steel introduces darker tones, metallic warmth and architectural rhythm to our material universe.

A highly hygienic and easy to use collection of shower toilets that conceal state-of-the-art technology in a timeless ceramic body.

This groundbreaking LAUFEN patented material enables previously inconceivable thin walls and narrow edges, without compromising strength or resistance.

Representing a shift towards a circular wastewater management system, save! is a pioneering urine-separation toilet that meets the latest industry standards of conventional toilets.

Yves Behar

A designer whose pioneering ideas provide solutions to real-world challenges. Inspired by the e-kiln, Behar designed a washbasin with a radically new bowl interior that both heightens the poetic experience of water in motion and offers water-saving functionality.

Konstantin Grcic

Ongoing investigation and experimentation define Konstantin Grcic’s oeuvre. Grcic applies his function-first philosophy and a simple, geometric design language to collections that explore the potential of the e-kiln and Saphirkeramik.

Ferrucio Laviani

Instincts, gut-feelings and intuition, rather than reasoned logic, are the starting point of Ferruccio Laviani’s designs. In VITREON Steel he found the perfect material expression for the new chapter of LAUFEN’s collaboration with renowned Italian brand Kartell.

Peter Wirz

People are central to Peter Wirz’s design thinking. The creative has conceived multiple collections for LAUFEN, including some of the brand’s most successful, and designed sophisticated shower toilets that discreetly conceal groundbreaking technology.

Stefano Giovannoni

Stefano Giovannoni’s work evokes a response from the subconscious. The mind behind an iconic bathroom collection first presented over 20 years ago, the creative explored the possibilities offered by Saphirkeramik in a more recent evolution of the collection.

Marcel Wanders

The creator of a design universe populated with poetry, romance and fantasy. Marcel Wanders designed a neoclassic collection that expertly utilises Saphirkeramik to capture the sophisticated elegance of yesteryear and transport it to the present day.

Patricia Urquiola

Humans are at the centre of everything Patricia Urquiola designs. Summoning her pioneering and experimentative mindset to the application of Saphikeramik, she made texture a key feature of a collection that revolves around the user.

Toan Nguyen

Toan Nguyen is a people-watcher. His interest in how individuals interact with physical objects manifests in the everyday functionality of his bathroom designs, which are elevated by the sensual precision made possible through Saphirkeramik.

Palomba Seranfini Associati

Designer couple Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba are on a quest to break new ground. The duo seized the potential of Saphirkeramik and reached new creative limits in their colourful interpretation of the bathroom as a living space.

Andreas Dimitriadis

For Andreas Dimitriadis design must serve the user. The designer of the first collection to be produced on an industrial scale in Saphirkeramik, Dimitriadis favours clean, minimalist aesthetics that offer added value while appealing to the emotions.

EOOS

EOOS founders and partners Martin Bergmann, Gernot Bohmann and Harald Gründl aim to drive forward the development of social and sustainable design projects. The pioneering save! urine-separation toilet is a product of this commitment.
