During Art Basel week 2026, LAUFEN returns with a new edition of Architecture During Art, the symposium series exploring the relationship between architecture, design and contemporary culture.
This year's conversation, When Time Becomes Material, takes place on 18 June at Basel Social Club and brings together voices from design, curatorial practice and architecture.
Presented within the context of Basel Social Club, the event forms part of a broader programme of exhibitions and cultural exchange during Art Basel week.

The theme of When Time Becomes Material extends also into the wider program. Following its presentation during Milan Design Week 2026, Konstantin Grcic's installation for LAUFEN will be exhibited in the location of Basel Social Club. The installation is conceived as an experiential space shaped by a simple idea: to understand time not as something abstract, but as something we can sense—something that takes form through the objects and routines of everyday life.
Set within a cylindrical wooden structure, the installation unfolds as a calm and contained environment. Here, the bathroom is seen as a place where moments come together—where time is not measured but lived.
Alongside this presentation, LAUFEN supports States of Water, an immersive bathing installation conceived by riten.world for KEEN. Set within a garden landscape, the project explores water, atmosphere and sensory perception through a sequence of spaces dedicated to bathing, rest and recovery.
Together, these projects extend Architecture During Art beyond the format of a panel discussion, creating a setting in which architecture and material experience come into dialogue.
