LAUFEN joined the first edition of DesignDays.Berlin as Presenting Partner, contributing to a city-wide programme of encounters around design, architecture, material innovation and the future of our living spaces.
From 24 to 26 September 2026, DesignDays.Berlin brought together professionals, creatives and design enthusiasts across the German capital. Marking 20 years since Berlin was designated a UNESCO City of Design, the new platform reflected the diversity of the city’s creative landscape, spanning interiors, architecture, craftsmanship and design.
LAUFEN contributed to the programme through a series of selected events, including the VIP Opening Dinner, an exclusive Speakers & Architects Lunch and the DD.B Summit. Berlin Gallery on Kantstraße also became part of the programme, offering visitors an opportunity to discover LAUFEN’s approach to materials, products and contemporary bathroom culture.
Conceived by Konstantin Grcic, Berlin Gallery is more than a conventional showroom. It is a platform for presentation, experimentation and exchange, connecting customers, designers, architects, craftspeople and creative thinkers.
During DesignDays.Berlin, the gallery hosted the exclusive DD.B Speakers & Architects Lunch and presented VITREON Steel, LAUFEN’s latest material innovation.
Smooth as glass and strong as steel, VITREON Steel combines the precision and durability of steel with the refined surface qualities of glass. Its slim profiles, distinctive finishes and subtle colour nuances open up new possibilities for form, materiality and architectural expression in the bathroom.
Presented within the setting conceived by Grcic, VITREON Steel demonstrated how material research, advanced manufacturing and design can come together to shape coherent bathroom environments.
On 25 September, Yves Behar joined the DD.B Summit at MOKKA*MILCH, contributing to the first of the programme’s panel discussions on the future of design.
The internationally recognised designer and founder of fuseproject works at the intersection of design, innovation and social responsibility. For LAUFEN, Behar created VOLTA, a washbasin collection that reconsiders the relationship between water and ceramic form. Its distinctive vortex architecture places the movement of water at the centre of the experience, allowing its natural flow to become visible within the basin.
The development of VOLTA is closely connected to LAUFEN’s E-Kiln in Gmunden, Austria, the world’s first electric tunnel kiln for sanitary ceramics. Powered by renewable electricity instead of conventional gas, the E-Kiln represents an important step towards the decarbonisation of ceramic production.
Behar’s participation at the Summit brought this relationship between design, material innovation and responsible production into the wider conversation taking place across Berlin during the inaugural DesignDays.Berlin.
