LAUFEN AT MAISON ET OBJET PARIS 2026 DEBUT

First participation in Paris highlighted Swiss design precision material innovation sustainability and a refined vision of the contemporary bathroom experience

From 15 to 19 January 2026, LAUFEN took part for the first time in Maison & Objet, opening a new chapter in our dialogue with the French and international architecture and design community.

At the centre of this first participation stood VOLTA, the washbasin collection designed by Yves Behar, who joined us on site throughout the fair. The collection became a natural focal point for conversation with architects and designers, not only for its expressive and fluid geometry, but also for what it represents in terms of innovation. VOLTA is produced in Gmunden using the world’s first electric tunnel kiln for sanitary ceramics, operating with electricity from renewable sources. This milestone allows ceramic products to be fired without carbon emissions during the process, reinforcing the link between technological progress and environmental responsibility.

VOLTA is also made from Saphirkeramik, our ultra thin ceramic material. Developed to enable exceptional precision and creative freedom, Saphirkeramik allows for finely textured and sculptural surfaces that redefine what is possible in ceramic design. Its capacity for delicate reliefs and sharp edges could also be experienced in THE NEW CLASSIC by Marcel Wanders, where material innovation supports a contemporary reinterpretation of classical forms.

In dialogue with these ceramic innovations, we also presented VITREON steel, expanding the material narrative beyond ceramics. This glazed steel combines the strength and malleability of steel with the durability and chemical resistance of glass, resulting in a surface that is robust, hygienic and visually refined. Its subtle chromatic depth and precise geometries introduced a different tactile language, resonating strongly with architects seeking premium materials for contemporary projects.

Together, these highlights shaped an intense and rewarding exchange with architects and designers throughout the week. Our first participation in Maison & Objet became an experience defined by conversation, curiosity and shared values, confirming the relevance of our material driven approach and reinforcing our commitment to advancing premium bathroom design through innovation, responsibility and Swiss precision.
