LAUFEN opens Zagreb Gallery with interiors by Snøhetta
Historic architecture and a shared material language create a new setting for bathroom design and professional exchange.
Historic architecture and a shared material language create a new setting for bathroom design and professional exchange.
In Zagreb’s Lower Town, a residential building completed in 1894 opens a new chapter as a place for contemporary bathroom design. Opening on 21 October 2026, Zagreb Gallery brings together LAUFEN and Roca brands within approximately 700 m² of interiors designed by Snøhetta.
The Gallery builds on a longstanding connection with Croatia, where Roca Group’s industrial presence in nearby Zaprešić anchors its relationship with the country and the wider Adria region. In the capital, this manufacturing heritage meets a space conceived for architects, interior designers and specifiers to explore materials, develop projects and exchange ideas.
Matter as a design language.
Snøhetta has shaped the interior around “Matter”, the presentation concept originally developed with LAUFEN. Exploring matter as both material and significance, the concept gives the two brands a shared architectural language while preserving their individual identities.
At the entrance, a curved wall guides visitors into the Gallery, facing surfaces in deep earth tones. Exposed brickwork and restored timber beams retain the presence of the original building, situated within the Lower Town’s protected heritage zone. These existing structures become part of the exhibition, placing the materials of bathroom design in dialogue with those of the building itself.
On the upper floors, dedicated brand spaces present complete bathroom concepts, allowing visitors to consider the relationships between ceramics, furniture, taps and bathing elements. Alongside these settings, individual products are displayed against exposed brick walls, offering another perspective on their form, finish and proportions.
Moving between composed interiors and individual pieces, visitors can explore how bathroom solutions might translate into their own architectural projects. Materials and finishes can be compared directly, supporting specification and conversations with clients.
Beneath the roof, the Matter Space provides a dedicated setting for talks, presentations and meetings. Digital areas extend the experience beyond the physical exhibition, offering access to the wider portfolios of both brands.
As part of Roca Group’s international network of Galleries, Zagreb Gallery connects local professional practice with a broader exchange around architecture, design and contemporary bathroom culture. Its programme of events and professional encounters will support an ongoing relationship with the city’s architecture and design community.
