Peter Wirz / Vetica

Led by Swiss designer Peter Wirz, this interdisciplinary, international team co-create brand and product processes, shaping both form and function. They see themselves as idea smiths, viewing design not merely as a discipline, but as a holistic, cross-disciplinary process within a much broader context.

Peter Wirz studied mechanical engineering and industrial design and was born in 1960 in Brienz, Switzerland. Before turning to industrial design, he was a successful top class athlete, twice taking part in the Olympic Games and becoming European champion in middle distance running in 1984.
Since 1997 he has been working with customers from Switzerland, Europe and around the world at Vetica. The company’s field of work ranges from medical technology through consumer products, sport and lifestyle, strategic design consultancy, computer user interfaces to interior design. Today the Vetica Group has around 40 international experts in consulting, branding, industrial design and interaction design, covering a wide range of design services. Clients include LUFTHANSA, ABB, ROCHE, VICTORINOX, STARBUCKS, BENQ, 3M, LAUFEN and many more. Peter Wirz and his team have won multiple international design and innovation awards and achieved the highest international recognition.

Peter Wirz’s long-standing collaboration with LAUFEN began in 1999 and has led to the creation of some of the brand’s most successful collections. Among them, LAUFEN PRO stands out as a landmark in accessible, high-quality design for everyday living. Its clear, functional forms and wide range of options have made it a favourite in residential and professional environments around the world.

Building on this legacy, Wirz has recently designed LAUFEN PRO X, a contemporary evolution of the original series. While maintaining its core values of versatility and practicality, PRO X refines the aesthetic with more architectural lines, slender profiles and precision detailing offering a comprehensive range of ceramics and fittings with a fresh, modern appeal.

Parallel to this, Wirz has also played a central role in the development of LAUFEN’s advanced shower toilet solutions. From the first CLEANET RIVA and CLEANET NAVIA, which combined intuitive operation with Swiss engineering, to the most recent launch of CLEANET AURIA, his work has helped define a new standard in hygiene and comfort. CLEANET AURIA represents the pinnacle of this evolution, bringing together minimalist design with sophisticated functionality: heated seat, Silent Flush 2.0, UV-disinfected nozzles, automatic odour extraction, multiple settings and app control—all integrated into a smooth ceramic silhouette designed for ease of use and lasting comfort.

Peter Wirz is also the designer of MEDA, a complete bathroom collection launched in 2024. With its timeless, approachable aesthetic and carefully considered proportions, MEDA feels instantly familiar and adapts effortlessly to a wide variety of interiors - from private homes to hotel suites.
Through this ongoing collaboration, Peter Wirz continues to shape the LAUFEN design language with collections that are thoughtful, versatile and enduring, merging functional precision with clear, intelligent design.
