Sieger design offers product and architecture design, and branding, communication and PR services. The studio was founded by Dieter Sieger in 1964 and is now co-run by his sons Christian and Michael. With a background in PR and marketing, Christian is the Manager and Marketing Director of the company and Michael is the creative mind, designing pieces reflecting his signature references to archetypes and intuition for enduring trends.
From its headquarters in Harkotten Castle, a 2,000m2 fortress housing office space, a prototype workshop and water laboratory, the studio designs products for its namesake brand, SEIGER, and external companies including Dornbracht, Duravit and Trilux.
The history of sieger design is inseparable from bathroom design. A keen sailor, Dieter Sieger embraced his passion for water in his professional career, designing elegant interiors for yachts. The move into bathroom product design took place in 1981 when a washbasin for a yacht unexpectedly fell and cracked. A replacement was arranged with the then Managing Director of Alape, who was impressed with the sophisticated finish of the space, and subsequently commissioned Dieter to design an all-in-one washstand. This project marked the beginning of a long-standing partnership with Alape and, over time, other bathroom brands.
Sieger design has received over 200 international design awards for its Alape creations, including the Red Dot Award for Product Design, iF Product Design Award, German Design Award, European Product Design Award for Home/Bathroom and Design Plus Award powered by ISH. In 2023 Alape was acquired by Roca Group, of which LAUFEN is part, and was renamed VITREON steel.
