When Design Shapes Tomorrow in Lisbon
Yves Behar joins LAUFEN in Lisbon for a conversation on water, design and the ideas shaping tomorrow's bathroom.
What happens when design begins not with the object, but with the experience it creates?
On 24 September 2026, LAUFEN brings this question to Lisbon with WHEN DESIGN SHAPES TOMORROW, a conversation exploring the role of design in shaping the bathroom of the future. Taking place at the Lisbon Gallery, the event brings together Yves Behar, Guta Moura Guedes and Marc Viardot to consider how design, innovation and sustainability can influence the spaces and rituals of everyday life.
At the centre of the discussion will be Yves Behar and VOLTA, his latest collection for LAUFEN. Rather than simply containing and directing water, VOLTA gives its movement a visible presence. Its distinctive vortex transforms the flow of water into part of the experience, creating a relationship between movement, form and function.
Yves Behar will be joined by Marc Viardot, Corporate Design and Marketing Director at Roca Group, bringing LAUFEN's perspective on the relationship between design, material innovation and responsible manufacturing. The conversation will also explore Saphirkeramik, whose strength and precision enable refined ceramic forms, and the E-Kiln in Gmunden, Austria, the world's first electric tunnel kiln for sanitary ceramics, which represents an important step towards the decarbonisation of ceramic production.
The conversation will be moderated by Guta Moura Guedes, Portuguese curator, strategic designer and cultural manager, whose work explores design and architecture in relation to cultural, social and environmental transformation.
Together, they will consider a broader question: how can design transform something as familiar as water into a new experience, while responding to the challenges that will shape the bathroom of tomorrow?
