Marcel Wanders is a leading product and interior designer born in the Netherlands in 1963. Graduating cum laude from the ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhelm, he later went on to found his namesake design studio in addition to Moooi, a company offering designer lighting, furniture and accessories.
Marcel Wanders is the spearhead of a ‘new age of design’, which rejects the coldness of industrialism and technocracy and instead embraces romance, surrealism and poetry. Inviting you to expect the unexpected, the creative has designed over 2,500 pieces for renowned brands such as Alessi, Baccarat, Bisazza, Christofle, Kosé Corporation/ Decorté, Flos, FendiCasa, KLM, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, LH&E Group, Louis Vuitton, Miramar Group, Morgans Hotel Group, Puma and, naturally, LAUFEN.
The ingenuity of Wanders’ work has led to key pieces being included in major art and design museums, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, the Pinakotheke der Moderne in Munich and Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, among others.
Wanders has received scores of awards over the course of his 30-year design career, such as the European Product Design Award, the German Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award and the iF Design Award to name but a few.
