Palomba Serafini Associati

Palomba Serafini Associati is the design studio led by Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba. Driven by a quest for breaking new ground, the couple create sleek, functional products that stand the test of time. The designers are the creative minds behind the Kartell • LAUFEN and PALOMBA collections.

Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba were born in Italy in 1961 and 1963 respectively. After graduating in architecture in Rome, the couple founded their namesake company, Palomba Serafini Associati, in 1994. The Milan-based design and architecture studio has leading international brands in their portfolio, including Boffi, Cappellini, Driade, Flaminia, Foscarini, Ideal Standard, Kos, Poltrona Frau, Zanotta, Zucchetti and Kartell, with whom they collaborated for the Kartell • LAUFEN collection. Projects span from product and yacht to interior design.

Innovation lies at the heart of Palomba Serafini Associati’s work. This pursuit is accompanied by functionality and close attention to detail, giving each design a singular and coherent character. Equally important is the design’s durability, intended to encourage a more lasting and considered form of consumption.

Over 25 years, the studio has received multiple international awards such as the Compasso D'Oro, the Elle Decoration International Design Award, the Ahead Award, the Red Dot Award, the Design Plus Award, the Good Design Award, the German Design Award and the Ahead Award.

Pioneering bathroom collections

Palomba Serafini Associati designed two collections for LAUFEN: Kartell • LAUFEN and PALOMBA. Emanating boldness and softness respectively, the collections’ distinct design languages are underpinned by innovation. The lasting relevance of the creations of Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba demonstrates that novelty need not merely be a product of its time, but something whose appeal can endure.

The collaborations between LAUFEN and Palomba Serafini Associati are rooted in a shared desire for innovation, research and quality. The design decisions and languages that emerged from the partnership not only defined the bathroom zeitgeist of their time, but continue to shape it today.
