LAUFEN opens Cologne Gallery in the Rheinauhafen
Earth tones, brushed steel and accents of colour frame a new setting for bathroom design and architectural dialogue beside the Rhine.
Earth tones, brushed steel and accents of colour frame a new setting for bathroom design and architectural dialogue beside the Rhine.
On 27 October 2026, LAUFEN opened Cologne Gallery at DOCK 6 in the city’s Rheinauhafen. Bringing together LAUFEN and Roca, the approximately 200 m² space provides a meeting place for architects, interior designers and bathroom professionals to explore materials, consider complete bathroom concepts and exchange ideas.
The setting connects the Gallery with Cologne’s architectural history. In the former commercial harbour, historic warehouses stand alongside contemporary buildings, while the Rhine remains a defining presence. Here, water connects the surrounding urban landscape with the daily rituals at the heart of bathroom design.
Warm browns and natural tones meet cool brushed steel, creating a material contrast that runs throughout the interior. Architectural elements organise the exhibition across a single level, guiding visitors through a continuous sequence of bathroom settings and material presentations.
Expansive glazing brings daylight into the space and opens views towards the water. The relationship between the interior and its surroundings gives visitors a changing perspective on surfaces, colours and forms as they move through the Gallery.
The exhibition explores different approaches to contemporary bathroom design through collections including THE NEW CLASSIC by Marcel Wanders, Kartell by LAUFEN and PRO X. Green and blue accents punctuate the earthy interior, showing how colour can define individual elements and shape the character of a complete bathroom.
Ceramics and VITREON steel are presented alongside furniture, taps and accessories, allowing visitors to examine finishes and proportions at close range. The settings offer architects and designers a practical reference for considering how materials and products can work together within their own projects.
As part of Roca Group’s international network of Galleries, Cologne Gallery connects the local architecture and design community with a wider exchange across cities and disciplines.
Its programme will include talks, exhibitions and professional events, creating opportunities to share knowledge and discuss the evolving role of the bathroom in contemporary architecture.
