LAUFEN presents Experience Tomorrow at HIX 2026
Material contrasts, expressive colour and new interpretations of familiar forms explore how bathroom design can shape the character of hospitality interiors.
Material contrasts, expressive colour and new interpretations of familiar forms explore how bathroom design can shape the character of hospitality interiors.
A hotel bathroom contributes to how a stay is experienced and remembered. The proportions of a washbasin, the character of a surface and the relationship between colours can give even a compact space a distinct identity. At HIX 2026, taking place at ExCeL London on 25 and 26 November, LAUFEN will explore these possibilities through Experience Tomorrow.
The presentation brings together VITREON steel, a new chapter for Kartell by LAUFEN and colour coordination through LAUFEN BESPOKE, offering different perspectives on the bathroom’s role within hospitality design.
At the centre of the presentation is VITREON steel, extending LAUFEN’s washbasin portfolio through precise geometries, thin profiles and a palette that includes dark and metallic tones. Its smooth, nonporous glazed surface also supports ease of cleaning, an essential consideration in hotel bathrooms.
Alongside sanitary ceramics and Saphirkeramik, glazed steel broadens the material choices available to architects and interior designers. Each offers different possibilities for form, proportion and finish, allowing bathroom elements to respond to the architectural character of a project.
Within Experience Tomorrow, these materials form part of a wider composition of dark marble, metallic surfaces and black taps. The emphasis is on how surfaces work together, using contrast and colour to establish atmosphere.
Thirteen years after its introduction, Kartell • LAUFEN enters a new phase under the creative direction of Ferruccio Laviani. VITREON steel expands the collaboration’s expressive language, opening further possibilities for colour and form.
At HIX, visitors will encounter beauTwash, a bathroom cabinet whose form takes its cue from the letter T, alongside a reinterpretation of Anna Castelli Ferrieri’s Componibile as a column washbasin with integrated storage. Both explore how familiar forms can acquire new functions within the bathroom.
Colour as an architectural choice
LAUFEN BESPOKE extends this exploration through a colour coordinated bathtub and WC. Presented together, they demonstrate how colour can connect individual pieces and give a bathroom a coherent identity.
For hospitality designers, this approach offers scope to develop a distinctive palette across different room categories, from a signature suite to a guest bathroom defined by a single considered element.
